The main purpose for this valve is to assist in warming up the engine faster in colder climates. The down side of these are they run off of the engine oil system and after a few years can begin to leak, not work properly such as sticking closed or worse yet rob oil from the turbo and cause turbo failure. By eliminating the restriction in the exhaust this also increases turbo response, TQ, and HP.
